Google has launched the first Gemini 3 series model, gemini-3-pro-preview, representing a major leap in AI capabilities with state-of-the-art reasoning, multimodal understanding, and powerful agentic features. The release solidifies Google's position as a leading force in the AI race against OpenAI and Anthropic.
The new Gemini 3 Flash has been set as Google's default model, bringing next-generation intelligence to everyday tasks. For AI Ultra subscribers, Google has also introduced Gemini 3 Deep Think, the company's most advanced reasoning mode yet, designed for complex problem-solving and analysis.
Deep Research Agent Goes Autonomous
Among the most significant announcements is the Gemini Deep Research Agent, launched in preview. This groundbreaking feature can autonomously plan, execute, and synthesize results for multi-step research tasks, dramatically reducing the time required for comprehensive information gathering.
The new Interactions API, launched in beta, provides a unified interface for interacting with Gemini models and agents, making it easier for developers to integrate advanced AI capabilities into their applications.
Personal Intelligence Across Google Apps
Google is also introducing Personal Intelligence, a feature that connects the dots across Google apps to provide highly personalized assistance. At CES 2026, Google demonstrated Gemini features for Google TV, including the ability to deep-dive into topics, search and "reimagine" personal photos and videos with AI, and control TV settings via voice commands. The "Deep Dives" feature provides narrated, interactive overviews with imagery, videos, and real-time sports updates.
Google is also expanding Gemini's reach in education, announcing updates at BETT 2026 that include AI-powered writing coaching through Khan Academy and free SAT prep through Princeton Review.
